Several of his songs have charted including the #1 independent country hit “Stuck in Between", which was recorded in Nashville. His music has been receiving substantial airplay on radio stations world wide. "Long Lonely Road" is the title of Russell's debut album released in 2015. In January 2020 Russell released his second album entitled "Outlaw country's Comin Back". The album features the song "Southern Voodoo Woman" originally released in 2019. The single won an award for outlaw country song of the year at the 2019 Josie Music Awards. Russell was named outlaw country entertainer of the year by the Josie Music Awards in 2018 and outlaw country vocalist of the year back to back in 2020 and 2021. Most recently, his single, "Train to Memphis", won outlaw country single of the year in 2022.
